Our Annual Pilgrimage Part 1: Michigan

We just returned from our annual US pilgrimage and Adalyn's first trip to her home country.  It was a crazy, busy, fun and an amazing trip.  Our first stop was Michigan, where Adalyn met most of her family and we caught up with a few of our friends.  It was a big transition from the tropical climate of Penang, to the dry cold air (40s!) and a 12 hour time difference.  Lucky for us, Adi rolled with the changes and did a great job.  We were lucky enough to get outside for a few hours and visit Uncle John's Cider Mill and spend some time enjoying the gorgeous Michigan colors.  It was a joy to introduce Adalyn to her Grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.  Here is a photo recap of our trip to Michigan.  Enjoy!
Our first stop in Michigan was a visit with Christie and Jason and to meet their daughter Maura.  So much has changed for both of our families in a year.  We had a great time hanging with the babies, going to Adi's first swim lesson and having a nice bonfire after the girls went to sleep.

On our way to Portland, we stopped in Ann Arbor to have breakfast with Liz and do some shopping.  Unfortunately, it was too cold to walk around campus, but we did visit the M Den and buy some new Michigan gear.  Our kid will always wear, Maize and Blue.
A quick drive to Portland and Adalyn was in the arms of her Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Sandy, Uncle Pat and cousins Kayla and Allison.  Such a special day!

Adalyn also spent some time getting to know my side of the family.  Great Grandma organized a family get together, where Adi met her Great Aunts, Great Uncles and lots and lots of Cousins.  It was a nice reunion with the family.

Eric and I snuck away for a few hours while Grandma and Grandpa watched Adi.  We enjoyed the crisp fall air and the autumn colors.

We also spent some time at Great Grandma's house.  Adi loved playing with her great grandma and can't wait for her to come visit us in Penang.

On our last full day in the Mitten, the weather was warm enough to warrant a trip to the famous Uncle John's Cider Mill.  We had fresh cider, doughnuts and Adi played around in the pumpkins.  It was a fun outing and we had great weather.

We had a great trip to Michigan and it was so nice to introduce Adalyn to her family.  Our next stop: Texas!
